at the two shows in london last month (20th + 21st) some people noticed a lot of cameras busily recording away.

we can now confirm that the shows were indeed recorded and pass on a bit more information on this. the shoot was directed by acclaimed director vincent morisset, who also shot the “neon bible” interactive video for arcade fire. the footage is currently being edited in montreal and promises to be a nice contrast to “heima“, which had a lot of links to context, time and surroundings, whereas this forthcoming concert footage will be purely performance-based.

as is fairly common in sigur rós land, it will be released when it’s ready and, as such, we dont have any ideas of release dates - but we’re looking forward to it already.

in a few hours the band will play their final concert of the current tour. the band play in reykjavík in the laugardalshöll venue.

in anticipation of the show, the icelandic radio station rás2 had a 2 hour show all about the band - naturally its all in icelandic. the link to the show is here.

in tonights 7pm news on channel 4 in the uk, goggi will be giving an interview about the icelandic economic situation. the interview should be available here later to watch. (we’ll update this story later with more information). enjoy!.

unrelated to this, it also seems that the bands first album, von, will be getting its first ever vinyl release. one little indian will be selling 2000 copies. at the moment its available on amazon.co.uk and we will be adding more links to our order page as we get them.

the bands co-manager, john best, has just written a long commentary over on the dót blog in relation to the photos used in the deluxe edition. the photos in the deluxe edition were taken by photographer eva vermandel. its probably not a bad idea to have the deluxe edition close at hand when reading things - but the commentary works really well for those without - giving lots of insight into behind the scenes aspects of earlier this year when the album and tour were coming together.

30 extra tickets for tonight screening of “við spilum endalaust” have been made available. if you’re in london and able to be at the odeon in covent garden for 8pm tonight then ring the cinema on 0871 2244 007. there will be a questions and answers session with the director also.

sigur rós have announced the winners of the gobbledigook remix competition on youtube. the band was impressed with the inspired creativity and hard work put into the competition entries. the winning entry is this (barely recognisable) cover by dan thomas iii. runners up are: benfi (best use of nudity), theamazingtveir (best comedy entry). honorable mention: bcnideas, onkennedymurray, alvinping, monolichelli, finnguala, sugargookies.
