At 2008's Pitchfork Music Festival, Titus Andronicus frontman Patrick Stickles was asked about his opinions on Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, who Stickles is sometimes compared to vocally. Here's (part of) his lengthy response: "I listened to a lot of Bright Eyes in high school. I'm not gonna front on you. Seventeen, 18 years old, me and my friends thought Bright Eyes was god's dick. I'm going on 23 now, I don't wanna read about Bright Eyes every time I wanna read about the band I'm in." He also said, "You're a great man, Conor, if you're out there. However, I don't sing like you that much, man. And I don't need to hear about it every single day."

Now, Pat will get the opportunity to tell Conor that himself, as Titus will head out on a long tour that includes dates with Bright Eyes, as Brooklyn Vegan points out. Titus have added many shows to an itinerary that also includes the previously reported gigs with pub-crawling legends the Pogues.

The dreamy synth band take on new experimental sounds with a lo-fi buzz and eerie softness to their new EP

Psychedelic pop outfit Echo Lake started out as an experiment in sound in Thom Hill's bedroom and have progressed since to now make dreamy under-produced tracks like their new single 'Young Silence'. Skewing the traditional approach to songwriting, most of their music is born out of live performance before being written into a track. Their latest video was made by film-maker Daniel Nixon, who hacked into a Microsoft Kinect to capture the band's performance and has been compared to Radiohead's groundbreaking video 'House of Cards', albeit made on a slightly smaller budget...

The Dignity Revolution

What have twitter and facebook ever done for us?

Obviously, keeping in touch with everyone but I have to say I have become increasingly excited over the last 3 months about the possibilities of this form of communication.Yes I am very slow out of the blocks. It's in the arena of public protest that it seems twitter and facebook are increasingly the means by which popular movements throughout the world are able to come together and mobilise.

I have been so moved by the peaceful Jasmine revolution in Tunisia; The anti-Government demonstrations centred on Tahrir Square in Cairo.. Social networking has helped facilitate the freedom to assemble peacefully and express oneself. Equally in Britain it seems to be having a similar effect in helping essential protests being organised by students and groups such as UK Uncut against the Government's ill thought out cuts ... Well done those people!
