Grime's premiere street commentator, Bashy, is back with a new single, 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?', released May 25.
The first single off his hotly tipped album 'Catch Me If You Can', due to drop June 1, it's been produced by Toddla T, and mixes grime with electro, in the same vein as Wiley's 'Wearing My Rolex', with a little Baltimore sound thrown in for good measure.
The video, directed by Adam Brown and Greg Duffield, is a fast paced and colourful look at the hustle and grind of an emcee trying to make money. It features cameo appearances from the likes of Adulthood star, Adam Deacon (Jay), plus the unusual sight of a grime emcee busting out a dance routine - think grime meets Will Smith. Or just watch the video yourself, here.
Bashy, who attended The Brit School Of Performing Arts in Croydon, alongside acts such as Kate Nash, Leona Lewis, Adele and Amy Winehouse, is set to become one of the UK urban scene's hottest properties this year. He's already garnered massive support on the underground grime scene, following the success of that controversial and groundbreaking 'Black Boys' track and remix series, as well as stepping in as music supervisor for the entire Adulthood soundtrack, to which his track 'Kidulthood to Adulthood' became the lead single.
This new album looks likely to be a wide range of material too, given this first single and the cinema worthy pre-album teaser - 'Ransom' featuring Scorcher and Wretch 32.
Not content with just taking on the music scene, though, Bashy has also recently played the lead role in Mind Blowing Decisions at Hackney Empire and starred in Marcus The Sadist at Saddlers Wells Theatre. And both plays are due to go national in the not too distant future.
